Dear Media, Stop trying teach Christians theology

"We could multiply articles in the Christians-are-meanies-and-I-know-the-Bible-better-than-they-do genre like St. Peter multiplied the animals after they left Jonah’s Ark. But it wouldn’t change the fact that the Most Holy Synod of Journalists doesn’t have an inerrant track record on religion. For instance, they sometimes need reminders that the resurrection is an actual thing Christians believe happened."

Reading between the lines

Throughout 2016, Glen Scrivener will be posting a daily video devotional, going through some of the key phrases that we see in the bible. Starting with "In the Beginning" and ending at "Hallelujah", Glen takes these sayings and show how at the heart of it, they point us to Christ.

Too Much Bible?!
Sounds provocative but the underlying point is clear. "Conscientious Christians might hear two passages preached on a Sunday, another passage at a midweek meeting [or insert whatever your church does with the Bible midweek] and then might study seven more in their own daily readings. They may hear still more texts expounded if they listen online or download sermons and talks. That is a lot of Bible, and it can foster an unreflective approach to Scripture. No sooner have I listened to one passage expounded than my attention is called to another, and the plates soon fall to the ground because there are too many spinning at once.

Why we neglect our bibles?
As we hit that time of year where we grab the latest bible in a year plan, this is a good reminder of the attitude that we may have as we read our bibles.

My Goals for 2016

It's that time of year again. Its that time where we sit down and make resolutions to achieve in the upcoming year. More often or not the people who really love this time of year are gym owners up and down the country. 

Normally, I resolve not to make any resolutions. When I've done it in the past, I end giving up/forgetting all about them by the 10th January- and that's on a good year. 

This year, I've decided to take a different approach. I've decided to come up with a list of goals, things I'd like to achieve by the end of the year. A list of things I want to achieve, books I want to read. My thinking is that by writing them down, I'd be able to keep track and remember what I intended to do.

So here goes.....
